WHAT IS ENDODONTIC RETREATMENT?

Endodontic Retreatment may be required for a previously treated tooth that is still experiencing pain and/or didn't heal properly. Ideally, with the appropriate oral care, your treated tooth should be expected to function and last as long as your other natural teeth.

WHY DO I NEED TO GET RETREATMENT?

 If improper healing was the cause of your Retreatment, it can usually be related to your tooth having a curved or narrow canals that were not treated during the initial procedure. In some cases, the restoration process of placing the crown may have faltered. For some patients, new problems can be the source of issue. Your tooth could have been treated successfully but a new crack in the tooth or poor oral hygiene and tooth decay could have exposed the root canal filling material, causing a new infection.

IS AN ENDODONTIC RETREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?

Once Dr. Salimnia has diagnosed your tooth and selected an Endodontic Retreatment as your solution, he will reopen your tooth to gain access to the root canal filling material. The existing restorative material will be completely removed to give access to the root canal of the tooth. The canals of your tooth will be carefully cleaned and after examination, it will again be filled and sealed. When this procedure is completed, you will need to return to your dentist as soon as possible to have a new crown placed on the tooth.
